DU Fundraiser: PGM2 Emulation And A Toaplan Prototype

http://smitdogg.mameworld.info/du/dunews.png

Thanks to the donators in the 3 recent fundraisers. They were all successful and we now have:

-huge load of CPS1 hardware sent to Phil B. to improve the emulation
-Atari prototype Cyber Storm dumped and waiting on a MAMEdev/emulation
-Taikyoku Baseball, Battlecry prototype, Battlecry Rev C and Japan Capcom Bowling dumped

For this new fundraiser we want to try to raise $400 to cover the costs of a PGM2 game Haze requested we buy because it's needed for PGM2 emulation. So if that is something you want to help us with, click below to help with the costs and mention "PGM2" in the note section.

https://www.paypal.me/ShouTime

Here's a pic of the PCB. It's an all-in-1 PCB version of Oriental Legend 2 as opposed to the normal cart system. It has a different progression system since it does not use cards to save progress, and apparently can now be 1CC'd.

As a bonus if we reach the goal, Shoutime will also dump his Teki Paki development board which was used at the location test. It's very different from the final release version.

 PfeMAME Linux News

Just a quick update for any of you using the pfeMAME frontend under Linux. If you're using gnome with the Wayland display server (e.g. Ubuntu 17.04), you're going to have problems. Get around it by logging in using XORG for gnome. Basically as of the current state of play, wxpython is not playing well with Wayland - no idea why but you get a few GTK errors when trying to do things like open the manual.

You can download this release from HERE. Builds are available for 64bit Windows and Linux and the source code is also available.

Please read the manual as it has everything you need.

pfeMAME is a front end for the Multiple Arcade Game Emulator (MAME) written in Python. It is cross platform (tested on Linux - Ubuntu and Windows). It also includes a graphical Tile View designed for MAME cabinets which allows control using joystick / gamepad. It supports favorite game flagging, MESS systems, and a Tiled view for arcade cabinets. It was written with a minimalist view in mind but also because there were some features I wanted that other front ends just didn't provide.

PfeMAME Version 2.1.0 For Linux Released

This is the release of the Linux build for pfeMAME 2.1.0. I'd already posted the builds (and source) for Windows but was having some trouble with Linux. The problem is that I am testing on Ubuntu 16.04 and 17.04 and if I compile it under one version, it wont run under the other. The issue is due to the move to Wayland as the display server instead of X. Its also causing a few other glitches that I still have to work through. The build that I have posted today is for Ubuntu 16.04. If you want to run on another version then just compile from source (see the manual).

As per usual you can find the files HERE.

Please read the manual as it has everything you need.

 Progetto-SNAPS 0.191 Update

Ready the MAME 0.191 update of "MAME progetto-SNAPS".

• It's available this folder on Mega.co.nz that allows individually download files to update from version to version. The folder will be temporarily available until the next update.
• Review the "Original" category of "Artwork": two packages have been renamed (fantasyu) and (twsoc96) and those with strange suffixes ('_alt' or '-big') have been renamed and then moved to the most relevant "Original Others" category. Other packages without matching MAME machines, then obsolete, have been removed. Added 26 new artwork for handheld games; lay files were provided by hap and backgrounds by Sean Riddle, R. Coltrane and ChoccyHobNob. Also added 25 new (and 5 updated) "WS" artwork packs and 1 "Alternate" (thanks to Comboman).
• Continues the great work of reviewing the "Marquees", with a lot of images at 1200px in place of the old ones at 500px; I also did a repack of the whole category. Another thanks to J. Modlin for the web research.
• Added a good number of previously unsupported software list snaps: alphatro_cart, alphatro_flop, apple3, dragon_cass, gamate, glcolor, h21, ibm5150 (preliminary pack), pc98, pofo, snotec, spectrum_cass (preliminary pack) and uzebox. Added more than 4,000 new snaps!
• About gamate snap set: Haze made improvements to this driver the day after I did the pictures... For this reason, the predominant color is white instead of green. As soon as possible I will fix it.
• Many pngs in various categories have been replaced because they have no MAME chunks or are bad. "ArtPreview", "Ends", "HowTo", "Logo", "Versus" and "Warning" are now ok.
• The next update is scheduled for Sunday, December 17, 2017.

4,611 snaps and 379 pictures, pdf, mp3 and zip downloadable here:

 PfeMAME Version 2.1.0 Released

pfeMAME version 2.1.0 has been released today

A number of bug fixes and a few new features. Most notable new feature is the ability to play game videos (see the manual for detail). Full list of changes are below. Note that there are some issues with features under the latest version of Ubuntu and I think this is due to the move away from the X server. I need to do some more digging.

Also note, in this release there is currently no pre-compiled version for Linux - you'll have to do it yourself until I get some time, or give me a few days and it should be done.

You can download this release from HERE. Builds are available for 64bit Windows and Linux and the source code is also available.

Please read the manual as it has everything you need.

It was written with a minimalist view in mind but also because there were some features I wanted that other front ends just didn't provide.

Changes in this release;

• Reinstated the pfeMAME.png file in the root pfeMAME folder. While it's not used by any part of the code, in Linux it can be used to create a desktop icon and in some distributions they will automatically see that icon for the ... (Read More)

DU Fundraiser: Taikyoku Baseball, Battlecry Prototype And More - Done

http://smitdogg.mameworld.info/du/du1.png

Thanks to everyone who donated for Cyber Storm. We'll be playing it next week if everything goes well. New fundraiser starts now!

Shoutime needs some donation help for 4 rare boards. Taikyoku Baseball is an incredibly rare game believed to be some sort of prototype of Champion Baseball II. It's so rare I don't think there is any site for me to link to.

http://smitdogg.mameworld.info/du/Taikyoku_Baseball.jpg

The other games are 2 versions of Battlecry. One is a prototype made for the AOU 1989 show and the other is Rev C.

http://smitdogg.mameworld.info/du/battlecry-proto.jpg

Lastly there is the Japan version of Capcom Bowling.

http://smitdogg.mameworld.info/du/capcombowling-japan.jpg

Donate below! Let's go for $475 to cover 1/4 of the PCB costs. Please paste "Taikyoku Baseball & Battlecry" in the paypal comments.

https://www.paypal.me/ShouTime

Thanks so far for donations from:
progetto-SNAPS
Patrick Wheeler
Sean Sutton
Surgeville
Paul Vining
Marisol Nuñez Serrano
Rod_Wod
Jeffrey Gray
John Wilke
gamerfan

Update: This is done thanks to gamerfan. The dumps I think should come out tomorrow hopefully.

 DU: Sunday Bits

Shoutime dumped The 26th Z and a bootleg of '99 The Last War. skate323k137 sent us a dump of Martial Masters (Taiwan).

I'm thinking about buying some boards with needed 8751 MCU chips because we can get them decapped. If anyone wants to donate toward that put "8751" in the paypal comments:
